Coop introduced My-Scan under the name Passabene in 2005

Coop is the second-largest retailer in Switzerland, operating          over 1.800 stores and well recognized for their slogan “We are close to our customers”. In line with their customer-centric philosophy, Coop was the first to introduce the innovative            shopping concept of self-scanning in their supermarkets. Passabene has been successfully rolled out in more than                  80 stores throughout Switzerland.

Coop Switzerland was already an existing customer of
Re-Vision using the My-Card loyalty system, and self-scanning
simply emerged as the most logical next step to improve service to their customers. The My-Scan application was initially
developed in conjunction with this customer, fully based on their requirements and on the same enterprise architecture as
My-Card, the highly scalable loyalty transaction system handling over 1,000,000 transactions per day.

With self-scanning, Coop has significantly improved service to their customers. The most important benefit is that they do
not need to wait in line anymore – proceeding directly to the the dediated selfscanning check-out. The Motorola MC17
hand scanner also helps customers to manage their spending budget – the list of all the goods in the basket, as well as
the total amount of purchase, is visible on the screen at any time.
